Costa Blanca an introduction by bicycle

Costa Blanca an introduction by bicycle

Spain is a country that has a lot to offer both residents and visitors. Spain is much more than the popular coastal towns along the Mediterranean or mass tourism on the popular islands, because Spain is also nature, culture, history, gastronomy, tranquility, adventure and much more. Especially the region from Alicante to Dénia has a lot to offer. Here part one of an overview of the nicest places in the Costa Blanca, which are ideal for an introduction by bicycle.

Cycling holiday through the province of Alicante

The Valencia region or “Comunidad Valenciana” does not only consist of the well-known cities of Valencia and Alicante. The Valencia region consists of the provinces of Valencia and Alicante. The latter is also home to a large number of villages. Some less and some very well known. To get to know them, it is a nice idea to do a cycling holiday through the province of Alicante. This is quite possible for families, where luggage is transported from hotel to hotel. But of course also for the avid cyclist, who can visit the villages below from a fixed location. Of course you can book the perfect carbon road bike for this holiday at Allure Bike Rental.

With the racing bike along Guadalest

Guadalest can be reached within an hour by car from the coastal towns such as Calpe, Altea, Benidorm, Alfaz del Pi, Moraira and Javea. This makes it definitely worth a visit. If you go inland by racing bike, you will soon arrive on one of the beautiful routes along Guadalest. This place is ideal for both cyclists and accompanying family members to visit together. The beautiful route there, which takes you through the mountainous landscape, is worth the effort alone. The village is located on a rocky point and has a view over the reservoir. Through a hole in the mountain wall you walk to the old part, after which sights such as the 12th-century castle, the old prison and the church are worth a visit.

Get to know the colored houses of Villajoyosa

The coastal town of Villajoyosa is definitely worth a visit. Not far from the very busy Benidorm, but completely different. It is much quieter and more authentically Spanish than in Benidorm. Walking along the boulevard is a fun experience if only because all the houses are colored differently. In earlier times, sailors and fishermen knew how to recognize their village from the water thanks to the colored houses of Villajoyosa.

In addition, the old center is pleasant to walk through and there are many squares where you can drink or eat something and enjoy tasty tapas. Besides the beaches, the colorful houses and the cozy old center, this coastal town is also known for the Moros y Cristianos parties. Finally, it is a popular village to visit for its chocolate. There is a long tradition of chocolate makers such as the well-known brands Marcos Tonda and Valor. These can both be visited on a guided tour and of course there is an opportunity to taste and buy the delicious flavors of chocolate.

Route along Finestrat, Orcheta towards Relleu

The old center of the village of Finestrat is still nice and authentic enough. We are talking about the old part of Finestrat which is inland and not on the coast. Finestrat has many nice streets, squares, several churches and plenty of attractions in the historic center. For cyclists who want to climb even further after a coffee stop in Finestrat, the route along Orcheta towards Relleu is highly recommended. The roads are very well maintained and extremely safe. And after a warm and strenuous ride, Finestrat also has about 260 meters of beach which has been given the name Cala de Finestrat. A place to see the family again. Here you can relax with a cooling dip in the sea.
