Cycling holiday and insurance

Cycling holiday and insurance

There is a lot to organize when you go on a cycling holiday. Insurance is not the first thing you think about. Why is that? If you go cycling in the mountains, you are usually quite fit. The combination of cycling holiday and insurance does not sound logical.

Why take out insurance?

Many clients ask us for insurance with full coverage for the rented bike. Unfortunately, we cannot offer this, because we cannot take out insurance for rented bikes in Spain. We do offer partial insurance, which covers material damage to the bike up to a maximum amount of €500. Theft is not covered.

Which insurance then?

Allure Bike Rental advises all customers to take out both good travel and cancellation insurance. Why? Very simple. In recent years, we have regularly had to deal with various situations. Clients have to cancel the entire cycling holiday due to personal circumstances. This can be private or work-related. They would like a refund of the costs incurred. For example, a down payment on the rental of the bicycles. We provide the customers with an invoice for the costs incurred, which they can submit to their insurance company.

But also on the spot, all sorts of things can happen. It happens that someone has an accident, or is involved in a fall. Apart from the immaterial damages, such as broken hips, collarbones, etc., this can be very annoying. If the rented bike gets damaged, this often entails a lot of costs. Not only does the bike have to be repaired, it can also sometimes not be rented out temporarily. These costs are often reimbursed by the right travel insurance.

Carefree cycling holiday

A carefree holiday starts with good preparation. We at Allure Bike Rental do this by delivering a high-quality road bike. But also by thinking along with the clients in the process prior to the holiday. If customers then also take out a good travel and cancellation insurance, nothing stands in the way of a wonderful holiday on the bike.
