In previous blogs we have already discussed some typical Spanish dishes and drinks. Most of these are no longer found only on the Costa Blanca, but also in the rest of Spain. Now we list some typically Spanish customs, which you can take into account during the cycling holiday on the Costa Blanca.
A few years ago we moved to the Costa Blanca in Spain. For many a dream come true. We just happened to hang around here. We could get a job in tourism here and there, which suits us well. And also look around what really lives here in the area. Of course we were confronted with many cyclists. Especially in the preseason from February to the end of May, but actually all year round. They use the Costa Blanca as a training camp and preparation for the cycling season that often starts around April.
Since the lockdown because of the COVID-19 on March 14th 2020 all shops, both fysical and online, were closed in Spain. Which meant that we were not able to rent our bikes to you, our dear cycling lovers. As from today Monday May 4th 2020 the government announced that all shops for roadbike hire Spain can open again. Although you might think this is great, nothing is less true.
Although the world is now in crisis, everyone knows that it will change again. It is important to us to remain positive. That helps us to stay strong when it is difficult and gives us hope for the future. Many of our clients we have contact with during this period are hoping to plan a cycling holiday in Spain. Maybe not for the first few weeks or months, but hopefully as soon as possible. We write this blog for them and all new positive thinking customers.
We already explained multiple times that Spain is a very popular holiday country all year round. Especially in winter when the weather is due to the microclimate really nice. For this reason a lot of elderly came to stay for a long time in the winter. Nowadays younger people discovered the importance of good weather, an outstanding cycling hotel and road bike rental in Spain.
Cycling means something different for every cyclist. We noticed on social media that many cyclists post a lot about coffee rides. So this is part one to guide you around while cycling through the Costa Blanca. These cycle coffee stops are located more or less around the Aitana (mountain). Therefore they can be fit in easily in your ride to the Port de Tudons.
A lot of riders like to go abroad for at least a week a year to cycle. But if you go cycling in Spain, do you choose the Costa Blanca or Mallorca? Mallorca is well known by many tourists when it comes to cycling in Spain. However, that does not mean that the Costa Blanca is not at least as attractive.
We notice on our Social media like Instagram that we have a lot of followers that are really enthusiastic Triathletes. For that we have been searching for the Agenda for the Triathlon Costa Blanca 2020. As we are in Spain, nothing is confirmed yet. But to give you any idea, the plan is to have several distances on Sunday 12th of April in Benidorm. It´s called the TriWhiteCup.
Clichés are there because it is true: The Coll de Rates is an extremely popular mountain to climb on a road bike. This mountain is certainly not the toughest nor the steepest climb on the Costa Blanca. Yet it is one of the best known and famous mountains. That this mountain is still a favorite is easy to explain. The Coll de Rates can be driven from two sides. This makes it easy to reach from just about all holiday destinations on the Costa Blanca.
